Through Her Eyes is a collaborative project of the Beaton Institute archives, Cape Breton Regional Library, Fortress Louisbourg Association, and Parks Canada. It was designed to digitize the personal collection of photos, artworks, and diary entries of Katharine McLennan (1892 – 1975) - a prominent figure in Cape Breton history. This project focuses on the life and legacy of a remarkable woman, providing insight into her life, spirit, and community work.
This digital collection of reflections, conversations and narratives, brings together the varied threads of Cape Breton's work history to people both within and beyond our beautiful island. We hope this site will transmit to learners, young and old, the diversity, creativity, perseverance and community implicit in the work that molded and continues to influence the direction and aspirations of Cape Breton.
NovaStory is a partnership between Nova Scotia public libraries, the Community Access Program and our communities. New digital collections will be added regularly so come back often.
You can search or browse all collections but we recommend you visit the County of your choice.
